I was looking out the west facing window and saw the sun had gone down but left pretty colored clouds in the sky. Grabbing my phone I went outside and snapped three shots.
Clouds are something I always notice. The common clouds are cirrus, stratus, and cumulus.
The clouds this evening look like a combination of stratus and cumulus. Not that I’m any expert on the different clouds and what they mean.
Mainly, besides checking the sky to guess what weather is coming this way, I enjoy how the clouds form different shapes.
Stratocumulus clouds are patchy gray or white clouds that often have a dark honeycomb-like appearance. Clouds are thin, sometimes patchy, sheet-like clouds. They sometimes look like they’re full of ripples or are made of small grains.

These type of clouds can also be an indication of a storm and I know there is heavy rain coming this way. Hurricane Ida did not have any effect on PEI except for the rain that is forecast later this week.

Clouds always a tell-tale sign of possible change, high winds sweeping the clouds with lower ones still bobbing along.
Yes addicted to looking out the window waiting for time of change to capture some stunning clouds, now I must remember where to post them next time Jo.
Hi Joan. Those clouds were a sign of change with heavy rain all the next day. The weather has become cooler but suppose to warm up again later this week.

Change of season has been a bit of a roller coaster ride again, hot to cold, lightning with no rain, now expected snow inland once again.
Yes the clouds tell a story before change happens, watery clouds like fog hanging in the hills today.

I also only look at the clouds to guess the weather. I've never heard the term 'Stratocumulus' so you're probably an expert in comparison to me😂😅
I love the way clouds form shapes and stuff too but I've realized I go a very long time, months usually, without noticing and appreciating the clouds, I only remember clouds that once in a while when outdoors not doing much.

Even if I would look in a book or online what the names of the different clouds are and what they mean, next time I see a cloud I will not know anything anymore ... I have tried it 😁 lol
But I love clouds, I love to watch them form and move - you have taken lovely cloud photos, Jo 😀 and the last edit looks nice too, I prefer the natural photos though 😉

It’s hard to remember the different clouds Hannes. I have the same problem trying to recall which ones are which ones. . As you mentioned. I just enjoy watching them form and move.
