The Tory Circus - I'm Sure We're Being Played...

Boris Johnson is a character for sure, but he's not stupid, not in any way.... he's got a decent analytical brain and he's got A LOT of social awareness - he knows about public image and what works, so he must know how bad his lies and stubbornness were coming across over these last few months...

So it's highly likely that his recent 'immorality' and lies and stubbornness have all been a play to distract us away from the harmful effect of ten decades of Tory Policies.

(I mean come on, one of the candidates was even called 'Tom TugMeOff', near enough)

The last decade has seen Tory Austerity policies ramped up, with the welfare system stripped, stagnating wages, and now, thanks to Brexit, stalled economic growth, human rights under threat and an increasing focus on blaming all of our woes on immigrants rather than said policies.

Conservative Britain is basically now one in which the Tories establish policies to give people just enough to allow them to carry on working while making it easier for the wealthy to extract more and more.

But I think we've only seen stage one of the wealth extraction machine - pretty much every candidate in the leadership election talked about tax cuts of some kind - many seem keen to cut Corporation Tax - so now tax cuts are on the agenda and it's just matter of when rather than if public spending gets cut further.

But the news agenda isn't now focussing on the long term harmful effects of Tory Policies, it's focused on the poor morality of one man - Boris Johnson - the media machine has created the narrative that the problem with the Tories is one bad apple - a narrative helped by those who denounced him - and a narrative played out expertly by Johnson.

Honestly, the lolz he must have had behind closed doors - about how people have fallen for his act - I think the last few weeks have been fun for him - seeing how far he could push it.

He's basically fallen on his sword as a distraction, I'm fairly sure that was the plan all along.....

And come September, once the Tory Party has a new leader, we'll see a fierce renewal of picking apart Britain for the rich, probably a ramping up of the scapegoating of the War, Pandemic, Immigrants as the fake causes of our problems, but with a more radical neoliberal agenda which will continue to make life worse for the poor.

People of Britain, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Postscript on Immorality...

(NB some of those early leadership candidates were genuine bottle of the barrel scum - Piri Patel is, IMO the worst - she used to lobby for the Tobacco industry - profiting from making it easier for companies literally kill people with their products, morally far more abhorrent that Johnson's parties - that was insensitive, but it didn't actually harm anyone, unlike Patel's actions, and yet she put herself in the mix for the leadership.)

Sort:

Tory Policies

Problem with most countries is the lack of leadership and whoever replaces the current leadership is just as bad and is no improvement.

Yeah the super rich versus the super bitch. What a choice.

Most of the candidates are tarnished as they served in Johnson's government and stuck by him until it just got too embarrassing to continue. So they chuck him out and then applaud his final PM questions. I actually believe there are some people with integrity in the Tory party, but they got pushed aside by the 'Cult of Brexit'. That results in people like Nadine Dorries being made a minister. Some of them just don't seem too bright, but they are ambitious. Johnson is the most ambitious of all and achieved his dream of being PM. I don't think he wanted to do the job though. A lot of what he does seems to be an act and I bet he's different in private, but it seems he felt he could get away with anything and he pretty much has.

I find it all very depressing. Labour have their own issues, but I think I would trust them more to do the right thing. They seem to subscribe to Brexit being non-reversable though despite most people thinking it was a bad move. The EU is not perfect, but it may be better to be in than out.

I have considered writing my own post on all this, but it would probably just be a long rant.

The next election will be 'interesting' for sure.

Ah Brexit - 15 miles of cones on the M20 and two lanes coming from Europe to compensate for the lorry park, working well!

It sounds like tax cuts are coming, I'm not sure how they intend to pay for them....?

They have failed to really show benefits of B*****. The list Mogg came up with was pitiful. I'm sure more will come out on who was behind it all. The real benefits were not for the majority of us. They always say they will cut taxes, but we need decent public services and the rich should pay their share.

Entertaining as it may have been, I'm sure he wasn't doing it for the lols, there's preferment in there somewhere. It'll be a cracking film when it comes out, like The Big Short on acid.

To be honest m8... I wished Boris hadn't been binned off until the next election because of his arrogance, and also I just feel we'd have had a better chance of changing to a labour government if he'd hung around as PM being the massive cunt that he is until the next GE.

If the Tories get someone less bombastic, more sensible, better at saying the right things, and more aligned to the average Tory voter, then a lot of people considering voting for another party would have, because of how much Boris was far from the middle ground, which seems to be what the sheeple want.

Safety and the illusion of security.

I've got my fingers 🤞 that people don't forget that Brexit and the shitstorm it has caused for the average Joe. Like the energy crisis. 80% of other European countries haven't got the insane energy prices we've got... go figure 😂

Don't worry mate I have this feeling Liz Truss is going to be a total neoliberal disaster!

I'd even settle for a Keir Starmen government over these Tory scum we've got now, if only because I don't think even this middle-of-the-road labour would continue the slow poisoning of the NHS through lack of funding. If the Tories get in another term I'm certain that they'll finally attempt to fully shut down the NHS... which will leave me (with a chronic illness) and many others absolutely fckd.

I have to say I was devastated when Corby didn't get in, as a real socialist labour party would have gone a long way to counterbalance all the damage wrought that was started by Maggie Thatcher's government, agendas that were set into motion to destroy any chance of a true left-wing option. IMO it has been engineered over decades to make sure the only choices to vote for are either middle-of-the-road or right-wing money grubbers... much like the American political model.

I generally deface the voting card, but I'm not so sure what I'll do if I'm still in the UK when the next General Election comes around. I might vote for the monster raving loony party

And from 1st January 2021, passports will be issued in the colour of political voting. Tories will be Blue, Labour will be Red, Greens will be green. Official Loonies will have leopard spots, and Lib Dem’s will be invisible.

I like their style 😒😂

It's bleak - the lack of options, I think the only choice is to vote labour!
