Mine runs at about 400W which isn't as heavy as one of the heaters I use to heat in the winter. Once you've dehydrated food you wont need to use freezer or fridge space for storing. I"ve seen discussions about hydro use and most people seem to think that the average one like I have is not that bad.

Not bad indeed, considering I plan to run only a fridge and computer once I build my cabin (no TV thanks God).
