Good morning everyone and MERRY Christmas Eve to you all. Actually, come to think of it, you will likely be reading this on Christmas Day, but as I sit here writing, it is Christmas Eve morning.
I am taking a break from writing about coins today, as I'm going to writing about my other joys in life, family and food.
As I am a dad of three daughters and have a wife who loves to cook, I am extremely spoilt with all the delicious food that I get to enjoy.
Baking is one thing that all my girls love to do. Currrently baking in the oven today, my girls have chosen to make Christmas shaped shortbread cookies with cranberry and white chocolate.
I can see that in a few days time I might have to write a New Year's resolution post about how to lose these extra Christmas pounds I am going to be putting on over the next few days.
The fresh cookie smell floating through the kitchen at the moment is unreal, the cookies must nearly be ready... but unfortunately I am not going to be able to try them until later this evening when we enjoy our family tradition of watching a Christmas movie together on the night before Christmas.
Our daughters are very excited about this evening, not only because they get to watch a movie and eat cookies, but because they also got a farewell present from their Elf on a Shelf this morning, his name is Buddy.
Buddy is a cheeky elf that joined us on the first day of December from the North Pole. Buddy helps to inform Santa if the kids have been naughty or nice during the day time, but at night he likes to get up to mischief. The photo below is an example of Buddy swinging from the pendent light in the kitchen.
Our two youngest daughters have absolutely loved waking up every morning at around 5am, then coming straight to our room to wake me up so that they can show me what Buddy has been up to during the night.
Unfortunately, as it is Christmas Eve, it is Buddy's last day with us before he has to return to the North Pole to give Santa an update and to help out with any of the finishing touches needed before Santa heads off on his sleigh to deliver all the presents.
Well because Buddy is such a kind and caring and kind Elf, he decided to leave a farewell present 🎁 for each of the girls.
All three of them were super excited to open their pre-Christmas presents from their favourite Elf, Buddy. They were even more excited with what they received when they opened the wrapping. Buddy bought them each a pair of matching pyjamas.
Matching pyjamas on Christmas Eve is another family tradition that is loved and enjoyed by our girls. As soon as our youngest one opened her present, she immediately wanted to get changed out of her day clothes and straight into her new pyjamas.
It took us a while, but we were eventually able to convince her that the best idea is to save her pyjamas for the family movie this evening.
Well we have a very fun family night ahead of us. Merry Christmas Eve to all of you and your families, I hope you too get to spend this special time of year with the people you care about and love ❤.
Let's all hope that we stay safe over the festive season and that we are all motivated and excited to take 2022 by the horns to make it a prosperous and joyous year for our families.
