TRIBUTE: To her Majesty the Queen (1926 - 2022)

Today is a very sad day for a lot of people around the world. Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of England passed away at the age of 96 (1926 - 2022). She was a well respected and loved queen and she showed true leadership during her reign.

For the coin collecting community, today also marks a significant change for the minting of future coins. Any coins that now get minted will no longer portray the effigy of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, instead coins will now be minted with effigy of her son and the new King of England Charles III.

This will be the first time since I have been alive that a new monarch will be portrayed on coins that I purchase or collect. It is a strange feeling, because the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II just feels like it belongs on the coins I collect.

It will be interesting to see who the designer of the King Charles III effigy will be and it will be even more interesting to see how the design of the first coin minted with his effigy is received by the public and collectors alike.

Thank you Queen Elizabeth II for being who you were to so many people and thank you for your effigy that has made so many precious metals coins look great over the year. RIP.

We'll see who comes out with the first Charles obverse, I'm betting the Royal Mint already got the nod.

The Canadian mint said the queen is going to be on the coin for years to come but I really hope they just trying to be respectful and future releases will have a new face and in a few years we will have yet another new face 🤣 oh what a great time for coins

There are going to be short runs of 2022 Charles III, I am getting 2nd hand reports of mints ceasing production and warning of further supply chain issues.

Thanks for sharing looking forward to all the new faces on the coins to come

Queen Elizabeth died, I am respecting her. She will live among the people as history

Will there still be those who keep her memory alive by holding unto the old coins?

I'm impressed with the One Ounce Weight and seeing 100 Dollars as its Face Value... They finally got it right... Let's see what King Charles does and them I guess it may be King Williams after that... We're living in interesting times...
