Ezekiel and the false prophets: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! Ezekiel 13:3

The Book of Ezekiel begins its story with Ezekiel's call as a prophet of the Lord. Nebuchadnezzar had carried out a successful campaign against the Kingdom of Judah, and its King surrendered after a siege; as a result of this, Nebuchadnezzar deposed Joachim and placed Zedekiah in his place as King of Judah. He also deported part of the population of Jerusalem to Mesopotamia, and among them was Ezekiel.
And while he was in the country of the Chaldeans, Ezekiel had a vision and God called him "son of man, " the book may have used this title to designate Ezekiel as the personification of the perfections of God, that is, God who becomes "son of man."
God also appointed Ezekiel as a spiritual sentinel of his people to alert them of their sins and return them to the ways of the Lord. This is why Ezekiel made many prophecies, including the destruction of Jerusalem and the future restoration of Israel.
But for this reason, Ezekiel also had important enemies such as the false prophets who gave deceptive visions to the people; it was for this reason that God ordered him to prophesy against those who made a trade of the covenant with God. In the Kingdom of Judah, not only did oppression prevail, but deception was also the order of the day.
With these words, with a misfortune, Ezekiel denounced the supposed prophets who gave false expectations and who only followed their own imagination and fantasy:
"Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: ´Hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins" Ezekiel 13:1-4.
God commanded Ezekiel, according to the book, to announce that his prophecies about the ruin of Jerusalem would soon be fulfilled, and that the deception of the false prophets would turn against them.
Ezekiel's prophecies and visions had a great impact on his time, and above all, the Book of Ezekiel was a foreshadowing of the Book of Revelations of the New Testament.
