RE: Proposal: Ecosystem Operations, Bizdev and Growth Retrospective

in #proposal2 days ago (edited)

So now the Information war guy is gonna play the same games as the mainstream propagandists ?

Tell me one thing critiqued means I’m automatically not critic of another worse group? What happened to u man, u sound like someone sticking up for one dictator cause he’s not close to as bad as another.

My name’s Yuri btw. I had this as my alt account before my account named after a great defector who tried to worse us got nuked. You know me, and no I won’t respond to ridiculous replies trying to claim I can’t critique two parties for totally separate things. Btw, the only reason this proposal passed is because those you cite supported it, they’ll be looking for back pay or equally ridiculous proposals soon enough. With all respect, it sounds like you personally respect this individual and aren’t seeing how 95% the active users being against it but a few huge whales pushing it through its ultra bad for us all.

The ship is going down old friend, this is bad look, precedent for past things going back 6 years is ridiculous , I don’t understand how you could not see it this way. I respect it, but don’t understand it.

I think I understand the main thrust of your comment. I do uniquely, personally respect Crim. I know what she claims she did is what she actually did do. I have also worked without being paid my wages for years, almost as a slave, for a man that saved my life but died without paying my wages. Robbing me of my wages didn't do him any good, and I bet he bitterly regrets it now, too late to do a damn thing about it. OTOH, I am not bitter about it at all, because I am alive today only because of him. He was a greedy bastard, but I loved him unconditionally. I don't want that to happen to Crim, because she did make almost inhuman effort to make Hive great, and deserves to be paid, unlike me.

You'll note, if you look, that I agree that this proposal is because she failed to demand to be paid earlier when she should have, and disagree with her that stating her compensation demands up front is more manipulative that seeking back pay. I feel quite the opposite is true. She worked hard to make Hive great, and neglected to protect herself while serving us. I don't want her to suffer for her service on our behalf, because that's on my behalf too, and I am unwilling for her to suffer for me.

Crim has also stated she's going to continue to fill the boots she has been for the next couple years, at least, and I think that commitment might well outlast Hive. Hive with Crim working for it has a shot at a future, but Hive without Crim working for it has much diminished chances of survival, IMHO. She needs to pay the bills and unless she has pay from Hive she will have to do other work. I wouldn't have sought back pay myself, and didn't when I should have, but this was the only route to keeping Crim on staff, and I don't think Hive has a future if Crim isn't on staff.

Those are the reasons, off the top of my head, I uniquely support Crim, and don't want her to be unpaid for all that work she did for us. There may be more, but these are the ones that come to mind.

I do appreciate your criticism. I must point out, to be completely honest, that I have committed to not voting for any proposal that doesn't include GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, and Crim has pointed out GP has her accounting information, and I know GP will not bother with a statement of account on her behalf. I did not lie when I said I would not vote for a proposal without GAAP, and I did neither lie and state I would vote for this proposal, and I will not vote for it because it will not have balanced books.

I make my yes mean yes, and my no mean no, and my word was that I would only vote for the Return Proposal until and unless DHF proposals committed to using, and did use, GAAP. I'm sticking to my word, FWIW. If she included the hours and tasks in a ledger that reckoned their worth had she been paid for them, the floats she provided Hive out of her pocket for expenses until she was reimbursed, I might have voted for her proposal, but I don't expect she's going to, so I will not vote for it. That might disappoint her, but I have said what I will do and I will do it anyway.

Edit: I wanted to address the matter of precedent. This proposal sets no precedent. I do not think Crim will put herself in this position again, and if she does I will tell her truly she does not have my support because she should not have let this happen to her again. Neither is there any other Crim. This proposal only regards Crim, and no other, so none can ride on her coattails. I am not saying this because I am trying to change your mind. I think your mind is fine just the way it is, if, as you say, I know you. But I don't think you understand Crim, and because of that you have these other concerns I am confident are irrelevant.

If Hive has a chance to continue to exist, Crim is critically important to Hive to enable us to link to other chains that somehow continue to exist after KYC internet advents. As to 95% of other users, I don't think they know Crim well either. As to the whales supporting this proposal, I think they personally owe Crim for her service to them, and they're dodging their obligation to personally pay her by this means. I don't think they'd pay her out of pocket myself, so I hope she gets paid this way, because at least she will get paid what she earned.

The reason I am explaining myself to you is that I respect your opinion, and I don't want you to misunderstand why I wished Crim well yet did not vote on this proposal myself. It looks very weird, even to me, that understands my reasons, so I can only hope my explanation enables you to make sense of it. I don't want you to think I support overlords. Crim has not been an overlord, but an earnest servant of all of us on this platform. As an earnest servant whom has been unpaid for years of service myself, I don't want that to happen to Crim for serving me. I am not a greedy bastard like my beloved friend that has died. I cannot vote on the proposal myself because it will not use GAAP, and I have said I will not vote for proposals that do not use GAAP. It's weird, but it is what it is.
