Love this.
I hate the term "ego-death" personally.
I always say that if that occurs you commit partial suicide.
Ego is just 1 small part of ones whole being.
Without it your not complete anymore.
The key is accepting and finding a balance.
There is no part inside of one's being, that should rule;
They all rule and they all follow.
Sometimes you need 1 part more than the other, but it cannot work without the others.
I think we need to set a new term for it.
Because there is nothing wrong with a healthy bit of ego.
By calling it ego-death and advocate it like that, you almost say that it is a "sin" to love yourself and stand behind certain choices you make.
You need your ego to know yourself and to sometimes stand tall.
It may not rule your everyday movements, but without you might as well lock yourself up in a small room without windows.
The experience stays the same, but we have to admit we have evolved since the time that people like McKenna and Leary ruled the scene.
They were onto something and have paved the road for us all.
But we must not get stuck in ideas and names that are not really fitting the bill anymore.
Ego-balance, Ego-humbling, Ego-acceptance....
Just a few examples that makes it less harsh, more appealing to new psychonauts and less egocentric
save travels and stay egohumble :D
I agree, we should bring it to the group and see what would be a better term that describes the experience. I'm sure some great ideas would pop up and it would be entertaining to say the least.
cool idea.
I start working on it!!
" Death to the "ego-death"
I don't agree and know that the term DEATH describes it perfectly for a reason. The ancient books of the dead are about ego death. Learn from the book and study the teachings and then see what you have to say about it.
Many want to put their own idea onto it and say it is something other than what it is... doing it and studying it is not for everyone.
Not to big on the ancient books. Although I find something's interesting in them, I'm more focused on the path ahead.
Yeah well this one is real special and right up your alley... trust me
I'll give it a look.
