Abstract:
The present investigation aims to determine the positive and negative emotions of hypertensive patients. The type of research was field descriptive, with a non-experimental descriptive transectional design. The sample consisted of 100 patients with a diagnosis of arterial hypertension who attended the consultation at the "Institute of Researchon Cardiovascular Diseases of LUZ" (IECLUZ) and the "Venezuelan Arterial HypertensionFoundation" (FVHTA), selected with probabilistic sampling. The instrument used was the scale of Positive and Negative Affects (PANAS) adapted by Pino-Ramírez and Esqueda (2013). The results indicated that the affectivity of patients with arterial hypertension is characterized by having a medium-highlevel of positive affectivity, which highlights the experience of feeling attentive, active and inspired. As for the negative affect, it was characterized as having a Medium-Lowlevel; Negative emotions with higher scores were uneasiness and irritability. When comparing positive and negative emotions between genders, it was not found some statistically significant difference.
Keywords: Positive emotions, negative emotions, PANAS and arterial hypertension.
