Great post! I guess that I'm something in the middle. What I concluded is that many introverts in some stages of their life try to "break free" and change their behaviour in order to be socially accepted but in those times they find themselves as deceiving. Older you are less you need to prove yourself to others and less you have a need to force "self expression". It's much easier to be introverted when you are mature (age) and find the peace of sky under which you are standing.

I think you're exactly right... we reach a point where there is nothing left to prove to anyone, so we just grow into our own skin and stop pretending.
