RE: Grab The Reins - Understand Fear And Start Working

in #psychology6 years ago (edited)

This is a great work again, @dysfunctional. I have read @abigail-dantes article and I would say that you both discussed different aspects of the subject and both presented a broader picture of the topic! I am working on my next aritcle about stress and coping, so I would say that we are congruent in the last couple of weeks. I guess @erh.germany could say more about these group dynamics :D

Here are my thoughts while I was reading.

From professional point of view I could say that my job is related to studying and recognizing fear in other people. From personal point of view my purpose is to study and recognize fear in myself.

I love the way you put it :)

That’s why it’s important to understand that a person is highly unlikely to make a rational decision for something important while being afraid.

Sometimes I tend to forget it and get annoyed with the irrational thinking of people who are distressed. You reminded it to me once again!

What is known for sure is that whenever someone is repeatedly exposed to similar fearful conditions, he becomes habituated and experiences less fear every time. In terms of biochemical response, being habituated to certain conditions or situations means that you need to find new and bigger thrills that would cause there chemical release in your brain.

Good to remember. The only way to deal with your fears is to face them. Many times.

Thanks for the good stuff :D It was a pleasure to read it.

@insight-out: lol. Yeah, group dynamics are quite fascinating.
As I think many times in a systemic way I have observed that it more and more gets difficult to not think in this way. I do not see people any longer as only individuals with single traits and habits but also very much connected to their surroundings and what they were fed with and what they feed others with.

Fear is a very powerful thing and we often infuse each other with it. It's highly contagious.

To facing it and getting used towards what I fear: Not easy, I would say but as @dysfunctional encourages us to do and I agree.

Thank you for reading and commenting! I'm looking forward to read your piece :)
