I from childhood have been fascinated by flowers, there is something magical that absolutely draws me to them. I consider myself very lucky to be living in an neighbourhood where there are dozens and dozens of blossoming flowers.
Though i’ve spent decades every morning waking up to them and even photographing it multiple times, I always looked at them with a certain blankness but fast forward to last week, A friend of mine who is also a avid lover of flowers while walking down a random street told me this is the Bougainvillea Flower. This accidental piece of information would go on to ruin my experience in way i never thought possible.
From that moment onwards every single time i passed my usual routine streets the first thought that creeps into my mind when i look at those beautiful flowers is that it’s called Bougainvillea. Instead of experiencing the beauty of the flower my mind would process this information. Isn’t this inherently the problem with naming ?
Why do we have to know what flower it is, Isn’t the beauty itself enough ? Doesn’t the name (Information/Knowledge) come in between us the observer and the observed(Being the Flower in this case) ?
