There is so much truth contained in this post, this should be added to the FAQ of Steemit I swear.
it may hurt some feelings
but its the freaking truth, no one owes you absolutely nothing.... And as much as I love the idea that everyone is special the truth is that its just a beautiful idea, and that's it...I don't want to hit anyone that is down, but If we can't wake up and be grateful for something, be grateful for our community, for your spouse, for something... then the person with the problem stares back when we are looking into a mirror and it has nothing to do with "HOW UNFAIR" the system is.
I'm glad you wrote this Luz, the message has to be clear... I'm all for supporting people, it makes me feel great, you could even make the argument that I do it for selfish reasons... because it feels good to love someone... but the moment that gets used against me, the moment it becomes a tool to manipulate and not reciprocal... I'm out... I'm completely out, hard line.. screw that... I'm out...
Anyways... sorry for the little comment rant, but I'm reading bobbing my head up and down saying to myself... THATs right... AHA... THATS RIGHT....
YESS.... TRUTH RIGHT THERE!
I'll take my leave for now... Thank you Senpai for the cold water bucket...
You're special though @meno, at least to me. Hahahaha!
It's funny, I don't remember seeing anyone complain about not getting likes on Facebook. Maybe they do but I missed it. Here on Steemit though they do complain even if it's their first 20 posts.
It's noteworthy to me because until Steemit existed, not too many people acted as if their self-worth was measured by the number of likes they get on their post. As if that had anything to do with their self-worth as a person.
It just seems silly to me but perhaps that's the world we live in now, a world where you're no one important unless someone upvotes you. If that has any truth to it we are in for a rude awakening.
Everyone has value in some way and how many likes you get have nothing to do with it really.
As far as upvotes, I stopped upvoting myself entirely so that I could have more Steem Power to upvote others. That makes me more valuable in my view.
If this post hurts someone's feelings then they are probably the exact people that need to hear it.
