RE: Perceptions of Jordan Peterson. Reflections after the lecture in Iceland

in #psychology6 years ago

There is a chasm between phenomenology and analytic thinking. Connecting meaning with measure is as hard a task as connecting "is" with "ought." And yet, we have to make that connection to not go astray, mentally. That's why Dr. Peterson is a uniquely effective thinker. He has one foot in both ways of thinking. You cannot face the world as a unity unless you are comfortable with its duality. Jung, himself, talks about this as he analyzes the archetype of the edenic trees. Knowledge is death, but life is unconsciousness. Being both conscious and alive requires being comfortable with the darkness.
