People choose one of two things. Either they embrace an ever increasingly thick shield, guarding them the pain of life they can retreat behind. Or they can choose to embrace the pain and be driven to live their lives for a purpose that is bigger then themselves.
Behind door one is loneliness apathy and self-protection. You find minimal human connection, and the connection you do find is selfish in nature and therefore incredible shallow and dainty. Ultimately, lives of regret.
Behind door two is the great mystery of human courage. You will find real love, where individuals are embracing pain, allowing it to build responsibility for change. You experience a passion that is a bit more dangerous, raw, able to bring about real change. Ultimately, you find lives worth living.
Choose for yourself...nobody can choose for you
Your 2 opening sentences drove it home! "You will never get one more day back." That got me thinking . We get to live just once so we must make everyday count, embracing not just the joys but the pains as well.
