My Quarantine Story

  • What is your coronavirus story; how has it affected you? (your life, financially, health or otherwise)

My quarantine story is a boring one, but how many people have an interesting story of sitting home? Here in Serbia we are on a recommendation of social isolating and a curfew from 5PM to 5AM (weekends from 3PM to 5AM) for 2 weeks now. The number of infected as of today is 785 and that is not a high number but only 3000 tests are done.

I live in small town and officially no one is infected. My office is in our house so i have no need to go anywhere, so the story is even more boring. In this 2+ weeks i was out 3 times, once to do some business with banks and two times for groceries shopping (and one time i went out to fly a drone, but the wind was to strong so that was a fail).

One of the good things is that for some years i was living under my potential (not sure that is the right word) so currently it is not that bad financially. Our work is as usual, will people be able to pay for it, and how will we be affected in the long run, we will see in the coming months.

  • Have you or someone you know been effected with the coronavirus, how are they now, what was it like for them?

Fortunately no one that i know was effected by the virus till now. And i do hope to stay like that.

  • Have you used this time to strengthen bonds with loved ones, do you feel you'll come out of this a better person?

I think we are the weird family of introverts so it is kinda business as usual :) and because of quarantine, no real opportunities to bond with other people. Will i come out of this a better person? I have no idea. The world will not be the same, but also people have a short memory so i feel a lot that were not affected greatly will forget about this soon.

  • Do you have any photos/videos to share of where you're hunkering down? Show us how you spend your 24 hours as a prisoner xD

My day goes from moving from work computer to privet computer, not an interesting sight to look at. But i used this time to learn some after effects so here are the results from this 2 weeks.

  • If you haven't been practicing social distancing, why, & what's the world like out there by you?

For some reason i thought about this as a serious thing from the get go, and i am not the guy who goes out all the time, so i was practicing it from the start. Also at work we are working in shifts and only one of us is in the office at times. I did not have a serious crises until now, if it goes like this for months, who knows. I do understand how hard this must be for more social people.

To finish this with quoting Terry Pratchett quoting someone else:

“There is a curse.
They say:
May you live in interesting times.”

Sort:

I work for a popular grocery store here in the USA. It is kind of nerve wracking being out in public even though I try to keep my distance from customers. Tomorrow, the grocery employees are staging a protest/sick-out for better compensation during these times.

Luckily, my kids and myself are in the clear so far. We have mostly been playing video games and watching shows like everyone else in the world. :)
We did go out to practice driving yesterday since there are no cars on the road. (my oldest is 15)

Other than that, things are mostly quiet in my area. People are staying distanced and we are all hoping this runs its course soon.

Stay safe out there people!

working in grocery stores now must be stressful. we had (small if you compare it to grocery stores) some amount of people in the office every day, but from the moment this started we transformed a small hallway so they can leave/take their papers, and everything else is done by the phone.

hope you at least get some protective equipment.

Oh yes the so-called Chinese curse. I remember a chat I had with my oldest friend that we are living in a boring era while the generations before witnessed some of the biggest world changing events. And a few weeks later it was 9/11...
History seems freaked out ever since!
Be well my friend and hive on :)

we had a lot of smaller events, but most "first" world countries had a pretty "boring" time. in the 90's we had a ton of "interesting" times, Greece had it's share of craziness few years ago, but this kind of global event a lot of generations did not see.

let's have a bit less interesting times in the future :D
