1 million transaction per second! Yes, 1 million!!
That is super-fast & amazing capacity for a blockchain to operate. (at least for now)
That is why I call Quarkchain as “The Flash of Blockchain”. For its ability to support up to 1,000,000 transaction per second. As for comparison, you can see in the diagram below:
How does Quarkchain gets the ability to achieve such speed & capacity?
Thanks to the use of “sharding” technology. Sharding is when a big data is partitioned to smaller shards where it will be easy & faster to manage. Thus the name “Quark” which means smallest building blocks of matter reflects the technology behind it.
Quarkchain has two layers blockchain structure, the first layer is elastic sharding blockchain & the second layer is the root blockchain where it confirms the blockchain from the first layer. The first layer is flexible to be resharded as needed without changing the root layer.
Why the world needs Quarkchain?
Currently there are several main challenge for blockchain to go for mass adoption. The common big issues are the scalability, security & decentralization issue.
We can see how current blockchain network get congested during last January when the total crypto currencies market capital hit $800 billion. Transactions are slowed down & the transaction fees are high.
Solving the tri-dilemma
Quarkchain overcomes the scalability issue by the use of sharding & two layers structure which is the main features of the project. Despites the layers & shards, Quarkchain greatly simplifies the account management. Users only need single account to manage all address in the shards.
To guarantee security of all transaction, Quarkchain allocated at least 51% of overall hashing powers to the root chain to prevent double spending attack.
Decentralization issue, Quarkchain has the enable weak miner to do the POW for the blockchain. It also allows multiple cheap nodes forming clusters to replace super-full node which is extremely expensive & encourages centralization.
Currently Quarkchain already have an MVP running with 2000 transaction per second, which is a good progress aligning with their roadmap below:
Having team with strong experienced background will definitely help to bring this project to success. I believe this project will solve the current challenge of blockchain & will impact the cryptospace.
