PeakD Advanced Countdown Timer Feature <- Why and When Would You Use It?

in #question3 years ago

As I continue to dig into as many of the features within each of the Hive Ecoysytem that I use regularly:

  • D.Buzz
  • Hive.Blog
  • PeakD
  • Ecency
  • Splinterlands

I come across various feature sets that I'm not sure exactly how they are meant to be used.

One such feature set is the "Countdown Timer" inside the ADVANCED settings of the "Write a post" inside PeakD.

I get that you can set the countdown timer with an end date. But for what? The 7-day expiration of a post? Or is it to countdown the time before an event?

I've looked around to see if other PeakD posts had countdown timers on them and my preliminary search comes up empty. So, I figured the best way to learn is to ask. So Hive, in what situation would you use the Countdown Timer?

Naturally, I am adding a countdown timer to this post. I wasn't sure when to end the timer, so I figured I would just set it for the earnings expiration of this post. Which, as we all know, is seven days.

Thanks in advance for your insight, experience, and examples of the best use case of the Countdown Timer feature. Cheers!

I assume this is useful for people who run contests and the like. Each week might be a new topic and this will remind people how long is left.

I think so , too. The only thing is that unless you're on PeakD, I don't think you can see it. I looked at the post on Ecency and it doesn't show up. Which means using the Countdown Timer has a limited use case and visibility to PeakD only readers.

Something I never noticed. thx for bringing it to my attention, lol.

You're welcome! I figure the more we all learn and share what we're learning the more we can all grow. As far as I know PeakD is the only one of the Hive Ecosystem that has this feature. Or at lease as much as my limited experience on Hive has shown me.

Can you think of a scenario where you would use the Countdown Timer feature?

Ah, now I see that the Countdown Timer shows up below the post in a bright purple bar. Very attention getting. Once I opened up the post the purple bar shows up at the top and bottom of the post. Interesting.
