I am not a chef, so I am very reluctant to send an entry. But when I saw that this week is all about rice, then in the Philippines, where rice is a staple, it doesn't take a chef to be able to do so.
So, I'll give this cooking contest a try! 😜
I thought of preparing a unique entry, since this is my first (no violent reactions please 😬). I'll be making fried blue rice.
First, I need to cook blue rice. In order to make it, I need to steep ternatea in a boiling hot water to get the blue extract. Then the blue water will be used to cook the rice grain.
Actually, the cooked blue rice is already presentable enough! And it is actually bluer than the fried rice (I don't know why).
However, since I feel that I haven't done anything, and haven't use my cooking prowess yet (as if I do...🤭🙄), then I have to make some fried rice.
In frying, I'll use whatever colorful vegetable I have in the fridge. I have:
- carrots
- corn
- green peas
- purple cabbage
- onion
- garlic
I think it's enough to make my fried rice colorful!
Steps:
- Sauté the minced garlic, then onion until savory.
- Add the cubed carrots, corn, green peas, and purple cabbage, and sauté.
- Then put the blue rice. Stir until its mixed and fried properly.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
And, here's the final product!
Bon apetit! 😉

I can't find the blue flowers for a long time in my living area :(
Looks delicious dish
Ohhhh.. It's very easy to plant and to grow. I think it will grow in your place. We're both living in the tropics, right?
You are not a chef but this looks so professional! 🎥
Hahaha! I'll take it as a compliment! 😁
So beautiful and delicious! Wow! Just next time make sure you write #fruitsandveggiesmonday with "s" my Dear, so it shows in the feed 💜🌿💜

I'm so sorry. I overlooked it. 😢
This is such a delightful plate of food! I have never seen blue rice, and the carrots are cut to look like flowers! Beautiful and creative! Kudos! 😊
Aw... Thank you so much @thekittygirl. Your words are encouraging and inspiring! ❤
Blue rice is very easy to make, as we have blue ternatea flowers at home. We create many beautiful dishes because of it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog, and for leaving such a heart-warming comment. 😍
Beautiful preparation, look delicious 😋
Thank you @sreypov. 😊
Awww... Thank you so much! I didn't see this coming. This is such a pleasant surprise! 😍 Thank you @innerblocks and @thekittygirl for curating this post! ❤
Absolutely awesome! I have never seen a blue rice yet not until your presentation. I am speechless :)
But really, I love how you made it naturally, and the presentation, stunning :)
Awwww.. Thank you so much @sherylneil. Blue rice is getting its fame recently. Hehehe. 😁 And it's healthy too. 😍
