The Bokeh Machine ~ Blowing Some Bubbles

in #qurator4 years ago

I was on the side of Mt. Tolmie, surrounded by tall grass, looking down at the pretty lights in the valley below. There were traffic lights, cars, the lights from stores and gas stations.

Sony NEX-7, 1/25s ISO200 50mm f/1.8

I set my wife's camera with it's lovely Leica f/2.8 lens on a tripod and positioned it so that the lights from traffic at an intersection below seemed to be shooting out from the lens... thus blowing some bubbles.

Note: I called that lens on her camera "lovely" but that piece of junk could not create bokeh at all. It didn't need to, it was just a prop.

No, the 'magic' came from my Sony NEX-7 with Nikon 50 mm f/1.8 lens attached by an adapter.

I hope you enjoy this photo which was created purely for the love of Bokeh. This photo is my entry for Qurator's Photo Quest | Bokeh

If your wife reads your post she may be wanting you to buy her a new lens soon.

Haha, I already did :-)

Ah thats why you were free to trash talk her lens, it all makes sense now. ;-}

It was more the camera. That was a bridge camera with non-interchangeable lens and a tiny cell-phone sized sensor. Anyway, that's long gone.

All the colours mixed up

Yes, they are overlapping.

That is true indeed. Some lenses are really good but produce unflattering bokeh :)

Yes, and I've had lenses that created nice bokeh overall but small objects like pebbles on a beach would make an ugly mess.

Yay!
