Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten publicly launched its cryptocurrency exchange Rakuten Wallet.
According to the company's publication this Monday, Rakuten Wallet users can trade on the spot market via a mobile application in three cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash. The application is currently available for Android devices. The release of the application for iOS is scheduled to be announced in early September.
Rakuten Wallet users' assets will be stored in a cold wallet to provide a higher level of security, and a multisignature system will be used to manage private keys. A prerequisite for the use of the exchange is the availability of two-factor authentication, which is used to login to accounts and withdraw funds. The company intends to keep client assets separate from its own. The trust company Rakuten Trust Co., Ltd.
Initial registration on the Rakuten Wallet platform was opened in April through Rakuten Bank. In May, the exchange began working with CipherTrace to implement anti-money laundering measures.
Rakuten Wallet's cryptographic exchange was developed on the basis of Everybody's Bitcoin trading platform, which the company became the owner of last year.
Seeing how Rakuten is the "Amazon of Japan", maybe an Amazon cryptoexchange is in the works; or, perhaps its own coin like Facebook and Walmart are doing.
Bezos has shown that Amazon ain't gonna be late to the party through "Amazon Quantum Ledger Database" and "Amazon Managed Blockchain".
My "money" is on a "Prime Coin" (though more like Tether and less like Ether).
