So, I recently sold a whole bunch of stuff and emptied my savings account so that I could buy a work van, because I just couldn't keep my 2002 Jetta running anymore and I'd rather get paid to work on excavators than to not get paid working on fucking cars. God I hope I can financially recover from this.
Ford won't import them anymore, despite them being almost as popular in the US as they are in Europe. The reason is really wacky:
My car is a year older than your Jetta. Still has under 140k miles though. I'll be keeping it for a while. But when I replace it, any trucks I consider will probably be 2005 or older.
