People still tend to perceive home-schoolers as isolated and anti-intellectual
I am so glad I've generally encountered the opposite here. The one notable "recent" exception (quotes because it was less than a decade coz I'm old XD) was one who came out with "But you went to uni you're educated why would you homeschool". They got a blank stare in response because I couldn't understand the logic behind that never mind how to answer it.
On your tangential rant: ahh the people that take anything different from their lifestyle/choices as a personal affront XD
Grandma M is very kind ^_^
And L aaaahhhhhh I'm shrivelling up inside from too much cuteness xD

I home schooled my kids between 1990 and 2010. It was still a very "weird" thing to do in 1990, at least where we lived in the Midwest. People who knew I had a BA in education would say, "At least you have a teaching degree." I just wanted to roll my eyes, because nothing I learned in college about teaching applied to home schooling.
You seriously must have the patience of a saint if you didn't actually roll your eyes, I kind of did the second I read that XD
