It's not so much an escape as an exploration for meaning. Which in the millennia that humans have been searching for a meaning to this existence, we have not found it. Easy answers of God's and a "you make your own meaning" are dead ends that don't solve anything.
Giving up and simply accepting your life will make it easier to deal with, but it won't satisfy your curiosity when you look at the stars and feel the weight of insignificance bearing down on you.
Never give up the search for meaning. Focus on your physical existence, yes. But never fully accept it as all there is
