In addiction to what @smyle just shared , try and interact with reputable steemians, the whales, dolphins , minnow even the redfish, Always leave good and meaningful comments, with that you attract them to your posts...
Comments like nice post, good one , won't attract anyone...
Another thing is don't spam..
Also try and find a community and join them, with them your posts will be noticed, but don't give up...
