Yesterday at the park, me and our wonderful daughter, dahana mahina (warmth of the moon in hawaiian) thought we were going for a normal visit of walking through the creek, hiking some trails, identifying wildlife, and other normal fun. However, we were in for a big surprise when we ran into CandyLand 😂. It seems there was an enormous Easter egg hunt with lots of candy and plastic and balloons at this part of the park. The unfortunate part is that much of it got left behind. Many pieces of random candy, plastic and balloons strewn all over the ground of the park.

Our little one started to announce, "hey look, it's trash... oh look it's another trash..."

While her statements were definitely cute, it also frustrated me because she was trying to eat candy on the ground at the park that we normally limit (or in some cases completely deny). In addition, it saddened me to see that people who were celebrating a holiday supposedly based on love of the world (jesus dying to free us all), that in the name of that, nature had been disrespected.

Thankfully, although we never taught her to do this (as she is only 2 years and 9 months old) and she has never been around for when I sometimes go out and clean up trash from public spaces — she somehow knew it was trash and had the initiative from her own well of curiosity and passion to spend 45 minutes saying, "oh look trash..." and then throwing many pieces into a nearby can sometimes with my help.

Have a look for yourself at this cuteness...

... and be inspired by how we all can be chipping in to do our part in creating a #CleanPlanet!

Gotta start em young!

She's really cute !
Good thing to learn young to clean some trash ! Hope that many people are like you, learning their children to do so, and maybe that would lead to a cleaner planet !
