Addicted To Money

You need it, you want it, you desire it more than anything. You need to know that it is secure in your account, you check your app on your phone every minute to see the decrease while hoping on pay day for the increase. It drives your dreams, and it demolishes your visions. Your goals are limited by it and your entourage of friends can become limitless because of it. Some desire to work for it, others desire to steal for it, but everyone wants more of it, and no one can get enough of it. However, even though we all need money, money should not take the place of what we truly need; life. Some are willing to end a life because being robbed for it, being robbed of it, needing more of it than someone else, and wanting to be in control of all of it. Some dedicate their lives to finding more and more ways to have all of it. Is this you? Is this something you desire more than a nice conversation? Something that you need more than lending a helping hand to someone who does not have? Instead, does it make you settle in a relationship that is abusive and dangerous? Does it cause you to desire more to continue the addiction you are addicted with something else? Does it take the place of your sorrow? Replace the thoughts of depression and anguish? Many will not read this article, for he or she believes they are unaffected by these statements. However, we all have bills to pay, we all have brought things we don’t need, we have all bragged about something we had someone did not, and we all have in some way failed to help someone with it when we knew we could. Are you addicted to money? Money is not evil in itself, but the Bible proclaims in 1st Timothy 6v10, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Where your treasure is, there is where your heart is also. So, stop stressing, but down your phone app, get off the phone with the bank, and ask the Lord to lead and guide your finances. You will see your addiction be not to the money, but to the one who created your opportunity to receive the finances you have been blessed with.
