Today I would like to look at 1 Corinthians 9 verse 24 to 25
24)Surely you know that many runners take part in a race, but only one of them wins the prize. Run, then, in such a way as to win the prize.
25)Every athlete in training submits to strict discipline, in order to be crowned with a wreath that will not last; but we do it for one that will last for ever.
It takes discipline and hard work for an athlete to win the race. In the same way it takes hard work and discipline for a Christian to win the race and win the prize, which is eternal life with Jesus in heaven. We need the discipline to abstain from doing wrong things. We need discipline to do bible study and to pray. We must not sit in the grandstand and watch, we must take part in the race. We must exercise by doing bible study and pray to be able to built up the stamina to complete the race.
