Lord Jagannath Temple is the largest temple in Odisha and the area of the Jagannath Temple is more than 39019.2768 sq.meter.As we all know that Lord Jagannath is the god of Universe.We all believe that he is the living god for us.
Here is some more information about the temple:
1.IT HAS A BIG WALL CALLED AS MEGHANADA PACHERY(WALL).
2.IT HAS FOUR GATES WHICH IS FACING TO THE EAST( DIRECTION).IT IS ALSO CALLED THE LIONS GATE. THIS IS THE MAIN AND ALSO ENTRY GATE TO THE JAGANNATH TEMPLE.
3.IN FRONT OF THE LIONS GATE YOU JUST SEE A MONOLITHIC PILLAR CALLED AS ARUNA(CHARIOTEER OF THE SUN-GOD)STAMBHA.
- THERE IS A KITCHEN ROOM IN THE JAGANNATH TEMPLE.IT MAY BE THE BIGGEST KITCHEN IN THE WORLD.
- THE FOOD PREPARED IN THIS KITCHEN IS CALLED MAHA PRASAD.EVERYDAY MORE THAN 4,00,000 DEVOTERS EAT MAHA PRASAD.
- IT IS ALSO VERY INTERESTING THAT THERE IS A MARKET IN JAGANNATH TEMPLE CALLED AS ANAND (PLEASURE)BAZAR(MARKET).HERE MAHA PRASAD IS SELLING TO THE DEVOTERS.
- AND NO DOUBT WORLD'S BIGGEST FESTIVAL NAMELY CAR FESTIVAL OF LORD JAGANNATH TAKES PLACE IN THE MONTH OF JUNE/JULY.
