The Green New Deal is a favorite of the liberal Democrats in the House.
Since its release, the proposal was panned by the right. The Senate pushed a vote on the issue to get the Democrats on record.
Not a single Democratic Senator voted for the deal. Instead, they either voted no or voted "present".
This was a maneuver by the Republicans have the Democratic presidential candidates publicly declare where they stood on the issue.
By voting "Present" the Democrats gave themselves time to regroup and come up with another game plan.
