Reputation--the Number

@dantheman surprised us yesterday with the new update with the reputation update.

First things, first. As you can see. I'm an 8.

Apparently that's good.

Only one person has the perfect 9. @stella-belle

So, I admit, to being happy for that.

I'm not sure how I earned it.

But I am thankful for it.

This is what I know.

  1. You earn a good reputation number when you are upvoted by someone else with a better reputation.
  2. I try to comment on a lot of posts and reply to as many people on my own posts.
  3. I've had a couple of posts hit the bottom of the trending page, and according to Dan on a comment I read. Getting on the trending page will help.
  4. I know if you have a very poor reputation your comments and posts will be shaded or whited out.

Questions I have

  1. According to @dantheman's post people with weaker reputations cannot hurt the reputation of those with higher reputations.
  2. Not sure what that means if I were to turn evil and decide to become a troll. Does that mean only@stella-belle can vote me down?
  3. Does it effect payouts? (I don't think it does, but I'm not 100% sure.)

Seriously! Stop the complaining

Of course I've already seen the complaining.

I have a poor reputation! I wanna better one! Not Fair!

Ugh!

Here's the thing. If you have a poor number, guess what? You already HAD a poor reputation.

With or without the number, you have reputation. The number just puts it out there very, very quickly.

You have reputation in the real world.

You have a reputation at your work.

You have a reputation in your family.

You have a reputation.

So work to keep it a good one.

With or without this number, how you interact with others on Steemit is your reputation.

Here are my suggestions for a good reputation on Steemit:

  1. Write interesting, original content.
  2. Interact with others.
  3. Be nice.

I'm new to this, but that's how it appears to work. I believe it's a way to cull the bot problem. When posts are spam voted or content is plagiarized, it shouldn't be rewarded. If that's the case, it seems like it will be a good system.

There are reasons people got their poor reputations, everyone's reputations have been earned.

There is a point to be worried about in this new system.
I was "-6" by DownVote by whale. Probably a mistake .
After that , I was helping other people .

However , this system is horrible .
Can not catch up .
But was me help happens to other people .

You went from a -6 to a 6. And it's only been out a day. That seems to me that movement is possible.

Although, I'm sorry you started at a negative. That stinks.

It is almost by chance I have to recover .
I was lucky .
But , There are -6 people mistake in addition to , but not recovery .

Be nice is a huge factor! And guys, be nice in general as well :)

It's amazing how just being polite goes a long way.

One post a a time.

Here is my version -How & Why??

Thank you for the valuable information.
However, fear downvote from high whale our ReptationScore, we are concerned that would decrease the critical opinion.
I myself, will endeavor to improve information gathering and sentence writing ability as can send useful information.

hopefully the negative side defaults to 0
