Crazy Taxi started life as an arcade game in 1999. It was an open world racing game where you had to pick up and deliver passengers in a limited amount of time. The original Crazy Taxi was ported to the Dreamcast in 2000 and later to other systems. The Dreamcast was based off of hardware used in the arcade game making it nearly arcade perfect.

Oh, I remember these, those were fun!

Yeah, they kind of remind me a little of Outrun. More up to date and the goals are different but the same kind of simplicity in a driving game. The funny thing is that there was a game called Space Taxi on the Commodore 64 that had the same basic concept: pick up passengers and drop them off as fast as you can for the greatest rewards (highest tips). Of course that one was 2D, sci-fi oriented and your taxi could fly but still...

Crazy Taxi 2 was kind of boring compared to the first one. The hills of San Francisco made for a lot crazier driving and stunts than the streets of NY. -Joe
