Hand colored with colored pencils: Pine Clarinet

in #risingstar3 days ago

A big hug to everyone in the Hive and Rising Star family! This is a great opportunity for you to see my new drawing for this beautiful day. Today I drew one of my favorite instruments, the clarinet. In the game, it's called the Pine Clarinet. You can find it identified in deck i285. As I've mentioned before, wind instruments are my favorites, and this one in particular. I have fond memories of it, not so much because of its music, but because every time I hear its name, I associate it with a cartoon.

In my childhood, I used to watch a lot of SpongeBob SquarePants, and as you know, it features the most interesting character in the entire animated series, Squidward Tentacles. Well, that character plays the clarinet, or at least tries to 😂. I have many fond memories of that cartoon, so every time I hear the name of the instrument, they come to mind. It's funny, isn't it? And today, when I saw the deck of cards in the game, I thought it was perfect for today's drawing, and I could finally share this anecdote with you.

Leaving my memories aside for a moment 😅, let me tell you a little about how it works. It's a wind instrument, I'm sure you already know that. But you might not know how the notes are created. Well, it works very easily. The musician can play it in two ways: using the keys or covering the air holes with their fingers. The keys are like small valves that allow air to be released through several holes at the same time or closed.

But don't confuse them with trumpets; they're different. Trumpet valves work with pistons that compress the air, but in the case of keys, they're on the outside; they simply open or close the valves. As you can see, it's an interesting system that allows us to enjoy their beautiful music.

I've listened to the clarinet a lot; in fact, I've had the opportunity to see one up close because one of my neighbors is a musician and owns one, although it's different from the one shown on the deck, but essentially it's almost the same. By the way, what they all have in common is that they have a wooden reed inside to create the music; without it, they don't work. The flute, on the other hand, doesn't need one, but all clarinets have one.

So, to wrap things up, friends, I'll tell you how I made the drawing. In the first images, you saw how I traced the base of the deck onto the paper and how I drew the clarinet by hand. Then you saw how I colored everything and now to finish you will see how it turned out along with the materials used.
