Hand colored with colored pencils: Regaee Drum

in #risingstar3 hours ago

Friends, a big hug! Today's hand-drawn sketch is dedicated to a beautiful drum from Rising Star. This is the Reggae Drum, a drum with African roots that was later adapted by many other regions. I'm planning to share several hand-drawn sketches of drums of different styles and sizes here on my blog in the coming days. Of course, they'll all be from Rising Star, so I suggest you check them out, as I'll be starting a sort of series. I can't tell you to turn on notifications here 😅, but I can tell you to stay tuned. I'm starting with today's drawing.

The very name of the instrument gives you a clue about the type of music it's most commonly used in. And if you guessed correctly, it's Reggae. This genre is primarily from countries like Puerto Rico, and it's here that you can see how an instrument created in another place and in a different cultural context ends up creating new genres and styles of music in another part of the world.

I'm curious to know what the new instrument of our century will be, one as revolutionary as this one. I have to say that I haven't seen it much, so I couldn't tell you directly which music or sound belongs to the Reggae Drum. That's because I'm not a fan of that genre. But I have seen it in some classic Reggae music videos. For example, the clearest memory I have is of a song my neighbor really liked, and he used to play it several times a day. I saw the video and the instrument on his TV a few times. I don't know whether to say the memory was good or bad 😂😂😂. He just kept playing the song so many times. I have to admit, the sound of the instrument was very good.

Friends, in the images you've seen, you could see how I drew the outlines of the Reggae Drum, along with the base of the deck. Then you could see how I colored everything, and finally, here I present the finished work along with the materials I used for the drawing.

Friends, I'm grateful for this new opportunity that Hive has given us to be here with you. I hope to return very soon, and you know I'll be back soon with new drums from the series. Hugs.
