Science Museum in London will host the oldest robot + VIDEO

in #robots9 years ago

The retrospective "Robots" is hosted by the Science Museum in London and proposes an overview of five centuries of robotics.

Humanoid robots have existed for 500 years, the first such machine was made in the sixteenth century, by a watchmaker, Juanelo Turriano, apparently at the order of King Philip II of Spain.

The robot is a monk who walks, he moves his hands holding a crucifix and apparently, the robot seems that is praying silently.

In total, the exhibition will be exposed a 100 robots.

Mechanical oddities and wonders centuries ago, the robots began to inspire people's fear of losing their jobs. In this regard, the Socialist candidate in the presidential elections in France, Benoît Hamon suggests introducing an additional tax for companies that use robots in the production process.

At the "Robots" will be seen three robots at work, already working collaboratively with people, but also robots who "played" in popular films such as Terminator T-800.

Juanelo Turriano's 'Clockwork Prayer' automaton is fascinating.
