Desde agosto del año pasado los patinadores residentes en la ciudad de Madrid han puesto en marcha una iniciativa que ya es común en varias ciudades españolas y europeas, la Friday Night Skate.
From August 2017 on, a group of local skaters have launched an initiative in Madrid which is already in place in many Spanish and European cities: the Friday Night Skate
La Friday Night Skate es una ruta en patines que recorre las calles de la ciudad todos los viernes por la tarde-noche. En los últimos años este evento ya se viene realizando en varias ciudades españolas como San Sebastián y Barcelona y, desde hace más de una década, en diferentes ciudades europeas como París, Berlín, Varsovia, Londres y Ámsterdam.
The Friday Night Skate is a weekly skating tour through the city streets that takes place every Friday evening. Over the past few years, this event has been held in several Spanish cities such as San Sebastian and Barcelona and, for over a decade, in different European cities including Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, London and Amsterdam.
Las autoridades de estas ciudades permiten a los patinadores realizar su ruta cada viernes por la tarde. Son rutas organizadas por jóvenes patinadores que se encargan del buen desarrollo de las mismas y de velar por la seguridad de los participantes.
The Local Authorities of these cities give green light to the skaters to carry out their tours every Friday night. The tours are organized by young skaters who take care of the proper development of the event and who are responsible of ensuring the safety and security of the participants.
En medio de la batalla contra la polución en Madrid, los patinadores proponemos una ciudad respetuosa con el medio ambiente y con la salud de los ciudadanos, una ciudad que ofrezca medios de transporte alternativos más ecológicos y, en definitiva, una ciudad en la que por fin el discurso político pase de la palabra a la acción. Por este motivo hemos decidido asociarnos y reivindicar una ciudad más moderna, menos contaminada y más abierta a la movilidad, al deporte y al ocio sobre patines y que, ante todo, favorezca la convivencia vial.
In the midst of the struggle against Madrid’s pollution, we the skaters aim for an environmentally friendly city, respectful with the health of its citizens; a city providing alternative, cleaner means of transport and eventually, a city where the political discourse finally moves from words to action. For this reason, we have resolved to constitute an Association for claiming our city to be more modern, less polluted and more open to mobility, to sport and to skating as a leisure activity, and which, overall, encourages the traffic cohabitation.

¿Qué queremos los patinadores en Madrid?
Queremos poder realizar al menos una vez al mes nuestra propia ruta, la Madrid Friday Night Skate, sin la necesidad de solicitar autorización y sin el temor a ser multados por ser demasiadas personas juntas en la vía.
What do we skaters want in Madrid?
We want to be allowed to run at least once a month our own skating tour, the Madrid Friday Night Skate, without the need to ask for authorization each time and without fear of being fined for gathering too many people together in the street.
El Ayuntamiento de Madrid pone a disposición de los ciudadanos residentes en la ciudad la plataforma Madrid Decide, donde pronto se iniciará otra campaña. Te informaremos cuando esté lista a través de nuestro newsletter y, si te encuentras empadronado en Madrid, también podrás contribuir con tu firma. Si se alcanza el número de apoyos necesarios, el ayuntamiento tendrá en cuenta nuestra propuesta. Mientras tanto, puedes colaborar colaborar con nosotros aportando tus sugerencias y comentarios acerca del nuevo borrador de movilidad.
The City Council of Madrid makes the platform Madrid Decide available to its citizens, where another campaign will be launched. We will inform you through our newsletter as soon as it is ready and, if you legally reside in Madrid, you can also support it with your signature.

La Asociación de Patinadores de Madrid tiene como objetivos:
- Organizar una ruta por la ciudad apta para todos los públicos, a la cual se pueda unir todo el que quiera pasarlo bien en patines.
- Conseguir que los patines puedan utilizarse legalmente en la ciudad como medio de transporte ecológico y sostenible, estableciendo los criterios adecuados que permitan el uso de patines en los mismos ciclocarriles que ya disfrutan las bicicletas, así como en los carriles-bici en las aceras.
- Difundir el patinaje como deporte y ocio saludable, social y popular.
The principal aims of the Madrid Association of Skaters (APM, Asociación de Patinadores de Madrid) are:
-Organize a skating tour through the city suitable for everybody and which anyone who is ready to have fun can join.
- Obtain approval to legally use the skates as an environment-friendly and sustainable transport mode in the city, setting the proper criteria to allow the use of skates in the cycle lanes on the road and in the cycle lanes in the pavement, as bicycles already do.
-Promote skating as a healthy, social and popular sport and leisure activity.
