I’ve opened up my Discord for all makers* to join and have realtime chat.

So if you want to chat anything from 3d printing to Arduino programming and CAD design, come hang out.
All an experiment right now so feedback is welcome, especially if you have experience in running Discords!
* It’s free to join but if it starts getting super busy then I will slow enrolment somehow, maybe in future tie new members to my forthcoming courses etc, but join now and you will never be charged.
What is Discord?
Discord is a chat system that allows text and voice discussions, popular with gamers and other geeky niches (eg. Crypto, Roleplaying games, etc).
If you are familiar with Slack for workplace communications, it is like that but for nerds and hobbies.
You can post images, text, memes, gifs, emojis, as well as have audio streaming.
Real time? Isn’t that noisy?
You can mute the server or individual channels, and dial it in to only notify you if you are mentioned or announcements etc – believe me, as an introverted neuro-untypical, I wouldn’t have this if it was going to take over my day!
Why should I join?
It’s a way to hang out while you might not be able to spend as much time with your maker friends, and especially this time of year it can be fun to have folks to talk to when you are not able to hobby talk quite as much.
Soon I am going to be releasing various courses and the Discord will be a way for folks to chat and ask questions of each other about those, but also the existing groups are loosely based around various maker topics plus a random channel where anything goes.
