Up very early and headed to the Marina's facilities to take a shower. On my return chugged some java and did some internet-ing. Thinking to do a quick run for supplies before Jose dropped round between noon and one... so started in on an in your pocket list.
After posting yesterday, an email from the Marina arrived saying that they had a berth opening for my size of vessel. The slip is situated on the outer most ring of the maze of marina docks at A-12. Some prime marina real estate!
Did some researching to get an idea of what to expect price-wise. That way some composure can be kept at any face to face meeting. Found a site called Snagaslip.com and their online calculator indicated that a month at Bluffer's Park would not be radically different than the cost of being on the hard.
Dropped into the office at 9. Samantha explained that Kate, who handles the rentals, is not at the same office. While there the opportunity was taken to ask if she could offer a ballpark figure the monthly. Her figure was not that different than being on the hard, which was very surprising and promising.
Returned home and gave Kate a call. She was in a meeting yet it was suggested for me to drop her an email expressing my interest. This was done so we shall see where all that falls. It could work out very well with the overall plan, which is basically making it up as we go along.

Thought the morning would be a good time to nip up the bluff on the bus. First stop? EggMart. By trying to explore deeper into their menu, the western sandwich with home fries seemed a good meal for high noon. And it was. They serve great egg dishes!
After lunch the next priority of course were edibles. Stocked up on some of the favorites like my adored indica chocolates, supplemented by the maple flavored look alike Oreo cookies.
No trip off the Bluffs is complete unless the Dollar Tree is involved. Did a quick in and out picking up more paper cups. Last but not least to the No Frills grocery store for some needed supplies.
Was not back onboard for very long when Jose calls to say he will soon be around to pick me up. Our first, and it turns out only, stop of the day was the Canadian Tire Store. We crossed off almost our complete list while there, except for two connections for the water filter.
To pay up and get out of there was another story. The guys at the service desk had cut off ten feet of hose for us that was likely using by the store's mechanics. They gave us product code to give to the teller. Well, the tellers were having none of that. At one point my offer was to pay for the highest price of two contending database items and that they could work it out later, but the POS would not allow the sale to complete without the correct code being scanned.
Finally just after saying, "Ring up the other stuff and we can come back for the house", the one who had run away with the hose mysteriously reappeared. It almost felt like they had been watching on the security screen for me to go postal or something.
YOU'VE BEEN PUNKED!

It's moments like these that we can see we are slowly becoming slaves to our own technology.

Back home knocked out another couple of TODO items. My Daughter had hunted down the house policy number and Broker ID for me. Stella, from my insurance company, could not find my policy when speaking with her over the phone. They seem to have to search through a global database. Anyway, called towards the end of the business day in Nova Scotia and left the info for Stella (who had left the office) to help her search on Monday. The plan is to try to insure the boat in my name through my house insurance agency. Right now Chris, the former owner, is keeping his policy open for me.
Evening is coming on and the temperature is cooling a bit. Time to sit in the cockpit and pretend we're sailing Lake Ontario. You know it's starting to feel that it may not be too long for that to happen.
May the wind be at your back!

That is a great slip according to the map
Yeah it's got me really stoked to get her in the water! It will be like having a floating condo in Toronto. :)
