Except for last winter Makina has been my floating home since purchasing her three summers ago (2024) near Toronto. After making the passage back to Halifax in October of that year it was my luck to get a wet berth for the winter in Armdale Yacht Club in Halifax. They pump air in the water around the berth so ice doesn't form. After the next summer of exploring the south shore of Nova Scotia she was brought ashore and stored in the East River Shipyard in Mahone Bay for the winter and launched again this spring.
My property of 38 years sold to my corporate neighbor in Oct 2024. My Daughter and Son-In-Common-Law had an apartment in the property so they and their cat moved on to Makina for much of the winter of 2025. My Daughter finally decided on a place to purchase in the early spring so we bought it.
The house has a small unit in the basement which is used by me when ashore, like last winter.
