Basic Cold Calling Mistake Number 104
I love it when a caller says: "I spoke to him the other day." so you put them on hold and ask the individual the caller was hoping to speak to, and they reply: "I've never heard of them! Get them to email me."
The icing on the cake is when you say to the caller: "They say they've never heard of you however given you said you've spoken to them can you email them? You must have the email address if you spoke to them?"
"Ooh? Err? Oh? Umm? Yeah." 🤣

The thing is, I'm an IT Sales Manager. I've been in sales for probably 35 years, so basic mistakes is a pet hate. I think to myself: "Who the hell trained you? They need a smack up the back of the head." There are loads such as "Can I.....?" NEVER say "Can I?" because where are you going to go if they say "No, you can't" 🤦♂
