Three days ago I wrote a proposal for the creation of the sports betting community bot. A day later I've started a discord server for our community and a small, but strong, group of serious players have joined.
After some scheming and planning, two proposals started to take shape. My support bot and the @costanza's player's club.
Seeing the @costanza's proposal, I decided to scale down my ambition for the sbc bot and join his effort.
Don't worry, my bot is coming soon. Last night, @stimp1024 has created an account for the bot (@sbcbot) and sent me the password. Today, I've spent my afternoon debugging and reading cryptic error messages. A painful experience, but the bot will be online by the next Saturday.
That brings me to my main point:
The Future of the Sports Betting Community
We should not limit ourselves to steemit. I like it a lot, but it is just one platform for us to operate in. New platforms are coming and we should prepare ourselves to establish our community on every viable platform there is.
By being organized and by growing in numbers we can become a force to be reckoned with. We can put ourselves in a position where others are approaching us and not the other way around.
So, what do we need to grow in numbers?
The SBC infrastructure.
Finally, we have a central place to gather around in our discord server. In a week, @sbcbot will be in action, soon to be followed by the player's club.
Things are moving fast and in a few short days a lot of it has been accomplished but we need to do more and we need to do it better.
To a new member, we can offer a lot!
Just as an example, the last night you could see some live betting tips being given by a professional sports bettor (@costanza) and a professional sports trader (@acelad) as the games were being played. People pay for such things!
But we are not yet ready to accept new members, because there are some missing pieces. For the time that the server has been online, we did a lot, but without a proper structure, our group will descend into the chaos as the new members are joining in, therefore I ask for the suggestion and help in organizing our group on discord.
What do we need in place to accept the newcomers? How should a new member move from joining in and lurking to taking part in running our group?
Few things I have in mind is the creation of our school, organizing in one place a library of the betting knowledge. We don't need to write it, @costanza has already done most of it, but his posts are lost here. Steemit sucks when it comes to finding older articles. We should dig them out and put it all in one place.
A valuable knowledge is gathering digital dust. We should dust it off and use it as our selling point.
For the foreseeable future, most of my free time will be spent coding our bots. I'll need help in running and growing our discord server. Volunteers and suggestions are welcome.
Since we are small in numbers and all of us have different commitments outside this community, the formation of the task groups may not be a bad idea. Two that I have in mind are the discord task force that will take on itself running and growing the server and the player's club task force that will hammer out the details of the @costanza's proposal. I'm taking on myself to implement in software what the latter group finally decides (if I get overwhelmed @stimp1024 has offered to chime in, too).
Basically, we should create the business, the marketing, and the tech departments. Everybody should join where their strength and interests are.
Guys, we are onto something here!
P.S. - @fullcoverbetting is offering a free course to our members: "How to start a new tennis season after an 8 months pause" after which I'm lecturing on: "How to win the @abh12345's engagement league by coding a bot" :-)
You are doing what? :P
Until I started to code a bot for our community I've been very active on steemit, but since then I've been MIA here. It's a joke :-D
:P Just checking!
I'm a bit behind today on the posting, trying to catch up to the comments!
All good work @beat-the-bookies, that P.S. had me in stitches!
I hope that @fullcoverbetting will not hold it against me :-)
I wont 😁
