In this post I look at the effect of STEEM and SBD prices on the US dollar value of 50/50 rewards.
Below is an equation to express the US dollar value (Value_usd) of a 50/50 rewards payout of 1 STEEM as a function of the price of STEEM (Price_steem) and the price of SBD (Price_sbd) in USD.
Value_usd = 1 STEEM * (0.5 * Price_steem + 0.5 * Price_steem * (1 SBD/USD) * Price_sbd)
One very interesting part of the equation above is that price of STEEM is multiplied by the price of SBD which produces interesting results. For example, using the equation above, with the price of STEEM being around $4 and the price of SBD being around $5, then the US dollar value of a 1 STEEM 50/50 rewards payout calculates to 12 USD which is 12 times more than it was worth about three months ago when the price of STEEM was around $1 and the price of SBD was also around $1.
