pros of basic income (real world)
- security for every person simply as a citizen.
- security for every child, knowing that even if their parents mess up, there's still life ahead for them.
- tangible way for everyone to benefit from the profits of the overall corporation - i.e. the country
- encourages a level of national pride
- This is of special benefit for people who (for whatever reason) cannot be employed or prefer to raise their children - which is fundamentally good for society.
cons of basic income
- can encourage laziness or poor choices in lifestyle
- can be seen as too "socialist" or too much of a "Robin Hood" mentality - stealing from the rich to give to the poor...
- may lead to over all cost-of-living increase, thereby negating the benefits...
