Lately they have been an enormous increase in online fraud.I have done few researches to find out a way to easily detect that its a scam
Listed below are few online scam languages used on a social media page ( fb,ig,Twitter) or dating sites.
1.When you recieve a friend request, always scroll through profiles before accepting.
Never accept a faceless profile
On facebook,look out for when the account was activated,if activated few days before the day you got the invite,carefully check through the friends list.If you find no friends at
all,leave the request till you see friends the account owner has mutual friends with.
Sometimes an older account can be hacked and used.Such accounts have an old date as the opening date but no freinds,that is because, they have to delete everyone on that account to be able to use it.
Now here is the trick.I am going to give few inbox tactics used.
Facebook user: Hi,my name is ........ am from........,but currently living in .. .....I have gone through your profile and would like to be friends or maybe more than friends.
Your reply should be:
You: Hi, i am...... .kindly paste your ip address,( the smart scammer would know what you mean,but the dumb immediately go numb).If ip is provided,go ahead to make a video call,if the call is declined with an excuse like my phone is faulty or I'm not available to pick up,know its a scam account.
Next you hear is can we chat on hangout( because hangout can create phone numbers) ,so you call thinking its a mobile number.
On instagram
Check the how many followers the account has,how many pictures and how comments on the page flow. Also click on the list of followers and find out if this person sending you mesages comments or like their followers post mutually.On dating sites
They are always first to write to you with a long profile of who they are and what they want
.On Twitter:
They open celebrity pages,and search for people that like that celebrity under the real celebrity page.They send a message asking if you would like to be backstage in the next tour or performance .After agreeing ,they ask you to pay to join them.Note that they will never follow you on twitter,because other people following you would get the fake twitter account under their suggestion list.
And that way,the fake account would be noticed....
Kindly note that anyone you are sending money to should be able to provide an account number and name,exactly the way the person answers
Anyone providing another name claiming to be a family members name, is a scam.
Do not ask for passport pictures,passport data pages are created
Be at alert
