Back To School Season Is Not Just For Students

The back to school season is one of the biggest seasons for students as they prepare for the new school year in the fall. Businesses use this season as an opportunity to sell their goods and services to students. Many commercials and advertisements use lines such as "Get the essentials for school.", "Get the hottest tech for back to school at Best Buy!", and "Look your best for school." These businesses know that the students want to look cool by having new stuff or improve their look to impress friends or find an after school hobby to keep busy.

Retail Stores

Alongside the holiday shopping season, the back to school season is one of the largest seasons for retail stores. Many young people have the "Keeping Up With The Joneses" mentality and want to the latest and coolest technology and clothes to impress friends when they return to school. Old is boring while new is cool and socially accepted with young students.

Looking Your "Best"

With young students at around high school, looking good or presentable is a part of being socially accepted in the school classrooms and hallways. Fashion and cosmetic retail stores will definitely try to help you look nice at the expense of your wallet.

University Students

Older students such as college and university students would be bigger spenders as their needs are greater. For the modern student, a reliable laptop is a must along with laptop acessories and maybe a printer. Furniture, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies are needed too for students living on their own off campus. Businesses near a university/college campus thrive when students return to school.

After School Education Programs

Although retail is pretty popular but one should not ignore the after school education programs. After school programs such as Kumon, Sylvan Learning Centre, Oxford Learning and Mathnasium do advertise and actively prepare for the new school season. Looking nice and impressing friends with new (tech) toys is nice and all but there is no internal satisfaction with bad grades. After school programs do aim to help students improve in their weaker subjects.

These programs do not guarantee that the student will improve in an instant or even three months. Learning and improvement takes time as better habits need to be developed. It is also up to the student to put in a good effort in these after school programs (assuming the teaching and service is good).

With the programs, do check if the business offer a free trial session or an assessment. A free trial session is a preview of what the education program is like while an assessment gives a sample of what the student remembers and what the student needs works on.

When it comes to pricing, a longer term commitment is generally cheaper on a per month cost basis. There might be a cancellation fee for leaving. Make sure to ask!

Gyms, Sports and Martial Arts Programs

Fitness and exercise is great for young students in keeping the body and mind active. It also helps with stress relief, building muscle, making friends and learning new skills. Fitness gyms, sports programs and marital arts programs do advertise membership programs to attract new customers. Some places do offer student discounts and maybe even sibling discounts. Do ask around if there are discounts.
