Archaeologists in eastern China have discovered a 5,000-year-old skeleton of giant human beings. They say, these people are very tall and strong.
According to bone measurements at a grave at an excavation site in Shandong Province, a number of people have a height of about 1.8 meters or more. Another one is estimated to be 1.9 meters tall.
The official Xinhua news agency reported, though not unusually high in Western standards in the 21st Century, but China's primeval man was like a "tower" of his contemporaries.
"This size is only based on bone structure, if he is a living person, the height will surely be more than 1.9 meters," said Fang Hui, Dean and Lecturer of Cultural History of Shandong University, Xinhua was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
Locals in Shandong assess their height as a very defining characteristic.
A study conducted in 2015 found the average height of 18 men measured when it was 1.753 meters. Bandingkandengan national average of 1.72 meters.
Confucius's height, the Chinese figure who was born in what is now Shandong Province, is 1.9 meters.
The excavation site in Jiaojia village, near the city of Jinan, Shandong, was found to house 104 houses, 205 graves, and 20 sacrificial pits. Also found a number of colored pots and jade.
Archaeologists have discovered the artifacts and bones of late Neolithic peoples since 2016. Brands live by eating pigs and barley.
People who lived in this region 5,000 years ago are believed to have a relatively comfortable life. Rows of homes that have been dug indicate where they live have separate bedrooms and kitchens, according to China Daily.
This area is also believed to be the political, cultural, and economic center of China.
Higher men are found buried in larger graves, probably because they have higher status and have greater access to food or food.
