Science Park in Trieste

I promised you a story about science park and so here we are...

I did a trip to Science Park and I discovered a wonderful place, a dream for all the researchers!
Science Park was founded in 1968 and this year is its birthday: it is 40 years old. It takes place where there were buildings to host the refugee from Dalmazia and now it is a scientific world.

Of course, there were also other important scientific structures in Trieste that allowed the building, at the beginning, of the sincrotrone (particle accelerator) and then of the entire Science park all around this ring of light.

How the sincrotrone works

The Science Park is composed by three campus:
-Padriciano campus (mainly academic research)
-Basovizza campus (here there is the sincrotrone and a lot of industries)
-Gorizia site (with some innovative sturtups)

Science Park is a research centre, an international research centre with partnership drivers between public and private.
As you can see in the first image, the Science Park logo is composed by 4 squares and they represent the main elements of the Park: Campus, Business creation, Innovation and Technology.
Nowadays Science Park contains 82 both private and not, national and international research centres with 2600 employeers. Researchers in order to be part of Science Park have to show a triennal project that will be evaluated every year. Then the production of discovered drugs is out of the Park. Of course, the scientists need to have the Phd to work here.
This is a perfect place where to work because there are a lot of wonderful comforts: provided laboratories, internet, coffee bar, guestrooms, convention rooms and also nursery school for employeer's children (called "Science puppies").

All the scientists can become part of the Science Park team: they need people with an entrepreneurial idea, researchers more or less young in order to create new spin-off, sturtups, newco.
We can also attend here courses about how it is possible to become an entrepreneur and we can obtain financial resources for our projects.

Vi avevo promesso una storia su Science Park e quindi eccoci qui...

Ho visitato Science Park nelle scorse settimane e ho scoperto un posto meraviglioso, un sogno per tutti i ricercatori!
Science Park è stato fondato nel 1968 e quest'anno è il suo compleanno: compie 40 anni. Sorge dove un tempo si trovavano gli edifici per ospitare i rifugiati dalla Dalmazia e ora è tutto un altro mondo, un mondo scientifico.

Certo, c'erano anche altre importanti strutture scientifiche a Trieste che hanno spinto, all'inizio, per la costruzione del sincrotrone (acceleratore di particelle) e poi dell'intero Science Park tutto intorno a questo anello di luce centrale che rappresenta il fulcro del parco nonchè simbolo di orgoglio scientifico italiano in tutto il mondo.

Il Science Park è composto da tre campus:

-Basovizza campus (qui c'è il sincrotrone e un sacco di industrie)
-Sito di Gorizia (con alcuni innovativi sturtup)

Science Park è un centro di ricerca, un centro di ricerca internazionale con driver di partnership tra pubblico e privato.
Come puoi vedere nella prima immagine, il logo di Science Park è composto da 4 quadrati che rappresentano gli elementi principali del Parco: Campus, Creazione d'impresa, Innovazione e Tecnologia.
Al giorno d'oggi Science Park contiene 82 centri di ricerca privati e non, nazionali e internazionali con 2600 impiegati. I ricercatori, per far parte di Science Park, devono mostrare un progetto triennale che verrà successivamente valutato allo scadere di ogni anno. La produzione di farmaci eventualmente qui scoperti è commissionata ad aziende che si trovano al di fuori del parco. Gli scienziati solitamente devono avere il dottorato per poter lavorare qui.
Questo è un posto perfetto dove lavorare perché ci sono molti comfort: laboratori fornitissimi con strumentazione di ultima generazione, internet, bar, foresterie, sale per convegni e anche una scuola materna per i figli dei dipendenti (chiamati "cuccioli di scienza": possibile spunto per il futuro curriculum di vostro figlio, sarebbe divertente!).

Tutti gli scienziati possono entrare a far parte del team di Science Park: al centro di ricerca hanno sempre bisogno di persone con un'idea imprenditoriale e nuova, ricercatori più o meno giovani per creare nuove spin-off, sturtup, newco.
Inoltre, è anche possibile frequentare qui corsi su come diventare imprenditori ed infine si può anche far richiesta per ottenere risorse finanziarie al fine di finanziare i nostri progetti.
