Why reusable space rockets are revolutionary

in #science8 years ago (edited)

SPACEX's Goal:

SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company was founded in 2002 to revolutionize space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets.

Reusability:

“If one can figure out how to effectively reuse rockets just like airplanes, the cost of access to space will be reduced by as much as a factor of a hundred.  A fully reusable vehicle has never been done before. That really is the fundamental breakthrough needed to revolutionize access to space.”--Elon Musk

Landing:

The million dollar first stage module landed safely to be reused in future missions without the need to rebuild a whole new rocket. This is the most efficient way of space travel to this day and will make space journeys cheaper and means there is no rebuild time so more rockets can be launched as well as more steps for humanity  to become a type 3 civilisations.
