Mostly people neglect the disease related with tapeworm but surprisingly millions of people get infected with hookworms each year. They remain unnoticed in the body of their host and there is very difficult to diagnose that you are infected with hookworms or not because there are no particular symptoms that suggest the presence of hookworms in human body. Patients who come in contact with them for first time show gastrointestinal symptoms. They can also become the cause of blood loss and can cause anemia in rare cases.

This is another concern to be taken into consideration. Humans can absolutely get hookworms from their animal.
So if you suspect that your dog has hookworms, make sure that you keep a barrier between you and the animal, like wearing gloves at all time, and keeping a distance, until the dog has received proper treatment.

Parasites and worms are a source of disease we often neglect!

Another reason to wear shoes as it can prevent hookworms form infecting through your feet. Good thing there are drugs that are quite effective.
