Jupiter has a lot of moons.
Because its so massive it captures a lot of passing material, and thank heavens for that, otherwise we would get hit by the big stuff a lot more often.
Because of all these capturing activities of largish bodies that may eventually find stable orbits and become moons, these moon send up with very different orbits.
Below is a plotting of these eccentric orbits of outer moons, any one of these could have initiated extinctions on earth in the distant past.
